Meditation for Surviving Holidays After Narcissistic Abuse or Divorce

The holidays have a way of dragging old hurts to the surface without warning — a song, a tradition, an empty chair where someone used to sit, a family gathering that doesn't feel like yours anymore. If this season has started to feel less like celebration and more like something to get through, that reaction makes complete sense. Holidays are built on ritual and continuity, and leaving a narcissistic relationship often means both of those got disrupted at once.

You don't have to perform joy you're not feeling, and you don't have to explain to anyone why this year looks different. What you can do is give yourself a few minutes to breathe through the moments that catch you off guard — the wave of grief in the grocery store, the sting of an old memory, the ache of a family that doesn't ask how you're really doing.

This meditation is built for exactly those moments: a way to steady yourself when the past intrudes, and to anchor back into the truth that you are safe here, now, in whatever version of the holidays you're building for yourself.
