You Are Not Broken: A Gentle Beginning

For so many of us healing after narcissistic abuse, there is one message that seems to echo through our bones: Something must be wrong with me.

We carry the words they spoke — or didn’t speak — like stones in our pockets:
“You’re too much.”
“You’re not enough.”
“You’re weak.”
“You’re unlovable.”

And after enough time bending, twisting, and shrinking ourselves to survive, those lies begin to sound like truth.

But hear me, dear one: you are not broken.
You never were.
Not then.
Not now.
Not ever.

Why This Message Matters at the Beginning of Healing

When we first begin to untangle from the voice of harm, our nervous system is tender. We are raw from surviving, unsure of who we are without their shadow. Starting here — with the reminder that there is nothing wrong with you — is an anchor.

Healing begins not with fixing, but with remembering.
Remembering that your worth was never lost.
Remembering that what you endured is not who you are.
Remembering that even in your most painful moments, your wholeness remained untouched.

A Meditation to Hold You

That is why the very first episode of the Freedom from Narcissistic Abuse podcast is titled “You Are Not Broken.”

In this gentle, 20-minute meditation, I will walk beside you as you:

  • Set down the weight you’ve been carrying.

  • Hear the truth that was always yours: there is nothing wrong with you.

  • Feel into your body’s natural rhythm of breath and safety.

  • Receive affirmations of worth, belonging, and wholeness.

  • Leave with a quiet ember of light you can carry into your day.

It is not about doing more, striving harder, or fixing yourself.
It is about resting into what has always been true: you are whole, exactly as you are.
